From invaluable to...
To pluck out an invaluable thing to make a valuable thing, is foolish and cruel at the same time.

Burnt -
The skin felt the heat first
but the first to burn was the hair.
First the hair behind the palms,
and then the ones on the arms,
then those on the leg
and then
the ones on the head.
Hair do not burn as if on fire.
They just shorten in length,
slowly,
because of the heat.
Once the hair are gone,
the skin starts burning.
It is the skin
on the back first
because I am lying,
face up.
There is no feeling on the back
till the heat touches the bone.
That happens first
before the skin of the arms is
burnt.
The heat touches the heel bone
before it touches the nail of the toe.
The muscles of the hind burn first
before the heat takes the scalp.
A few vertebra dislocate
as the joining tendons burn.
The waist goes next
and then the chest.
The organs go first
before the enclosing bones.
The eyes melt first
before the cheeks are gone.
The tongue burns first
before the skull cracks.
The heat shrinks the brain
before the knees crack.
The chest collapses
before the skull breaks.
The brain is burnt
before the last bone dislocates.
The body does not react to all this,
because it is dead.
What I write is an experience
that none can express.
It is the mind that watches
the movement of time.
It is time that passes,
not 'us' passing time.
It is the mind that told
my son to write.
I know this will give
a tear to his eye.
He stood with me
on that day,
so I stand with him
on this day,
to express what all must feel,
but none can express.
An experience of a
lifetime!

Atal Behari Vajpayee

ಪಿಸುಮಾತು -Aa.Ja.Ka

A leaf for the Student -
It is Ganesh Chaturthi and there is no dearth of wishes from people to each other. In this wishing and "wishing the same" there is a learning which is forgotten. A powerful learning, not to be missed to be successful in life, lifelong. The learning comes from a story, which is a "story" to the general reader. To the keen observer, however, the secret is revealed. The story goes like this...
Vyasa wanted to write the Mahabharata, but knew that this was not a single-man effort. To complete it, he would need someone to write it, while he narrates. And for this he thought none fit other than Ganesha himself.
Towards this purpose, he approached Ganesha and requested him to write the Mahabharata while he narrates it.
At this stage, Ganesha imposed a precondition that he would do so only if Vyasa would narrate the story "without a pause". Vyasa agrees but sets a counter-condition - that Ganesha understand what he recites first, "before" transcribing them. And Ganesha agrees.
And so the Mahabharata was written. It is said that while Vyasa narrated, he would be full chapters ahead, while Ganesha would sit thinking on the meaning of what he heard before he transcribed (wrote) it.
The story ends.
To the keen observer though, the secret to success is revealed. It is short, simple and yet powerful.
It is this:
Apply thy power of "understanding before the action" is done.
Try to understand, hone the skills to understand, improve your knowledge to understand. Understand before you take decisions. Understand before you write the exams. Understand before teaching others. Understand before writing down anything. Understand before undertaking the works. And so on... apply this principle everywhere and you are sure to be successful in life. So, if you understand before you do anything, you are automatically invoking the principle of Ganesha - the Lord of Success.
Understood?

Droplets -jasnoor kaur
Un shed, quiet, silent, sorrowful.
Full of dejection, fear and anticipation.
Un shed ,quiet ,silent,sorrowful
Full of dejection, fear and anticipation
often, just drops of water ....
for the onlookers.
Agony and helplessness
gives them shape,
Shattered dreams, lost friends
Out of happiness ...do they appear?
I've only heard...Never felt
Oh...! I'm talking about tears

Daya Bhat
